COVENTRY Motofest takes place this coming weekend – and the Save Coventry Speedway & Stock Car Campaign Group will be there throughout.
The largest free urban motorsport festival in the UK comes to the City Centre on Saturday June 2 and Sunday June 3, featuring demonstration events, static displays and live action on the long and short oval circuits.
Time trials and head-to-head sprints will take place in various different categories of motorsport – with competitive action being hosted on the UK’s streets for the first time since the Birmingham Super Prix of 1990.
The event will be attended by local and national dignitaries and celebrities, as well as members of the World’s media.
The Campaign Group have taken out a double stand and will have a prominent position outside IKEA on Croft Road.
We will have stock cars and speedway bikes on display, along with Campaign information, flags, banners and memorabilia from the sports which we are seeking to return to their rightful home.
Members of the Campaign Group will be on hand throughout the weekend to update visitors on the current position regarding that particular fight.
Merchandise will be available and we are also giving visitors the opportunity to win a £300 Bang and Olufsen Bluetooth Speaker in our social media competition.
We are asking visitors to our stand to take ‘selfies’ either on or around the bikes and cars on the stand, and then Tweet them with the hashtag #SaveCoventrySpeedway. We will judge the best picture, with the winner to be decided at the end of the show on Sunday.
Attendance for Motofest was around 130,000 across the weekend last year, and with the interest growing all the time we would like to thank the organisers for allowing us the opportunity to further publicise our cause.
