BUILDBASE Bees star Chris Harris finished an excellent second in Thursday's Elite League Riders' Championship at King's Lynn.
Harris had to give best to World Championship leader Nicki Pedersen in the Final, but managed to overhaul Davey Watt for his silver medal, with Leigh Adams eventually coming through for third.
Harris fell in his first ride as he became one of several competitors to find conditions more than difficult, and extensive track grading was required to produce a surface which allowed the top riders to show their true abilities.
His Bees colleagues Scott Nicholls and Rory Schlein were out of luck as both narrowly missed out on the top six places required to reach the closing stages.
Nicholls, who also fell first time out, put himself in contention by winning his fourth ride, but a third place in his last outing left him on seven points, one below the mark required.
Schlein finished on six, including one of the rides of the night to go between Watt and Bjarne Pedersen in winning Heat 12.
