COVENTRY Storm are back on top of the National League table after an emphatic 64-26 win at Scunthorpe on Bank Holiday Monday.
The City Gearboxes Storm competed at the Eddie Wright Raceway without three of their regular top five riders but still dominated proceedings, supplying race wins in all 15 heats.
Oliver Greenwood romped to a 15-point maximum whilst namesake Dan was also unbeaten from five outings, and guest duo Jon Armstrong and Marc Owen notched four-ride paid maximums.
Martin Knuckey also picked up an impressive paid-12 haul, being unbeaten until his final race of the meeting with the Storm nominating their two reserves in that Heat 15 and Ryan Terry-Daley taking the win.
Due to the one-sided nature of the meeting they also resisted the temptation to maximise the rider-replacement outings for the injured Luke Crang, handing two opportunities to young No.8 Layne Cupitt.
Storm took charge with three 5-1s in the first four heats and secured maximum points from the meeting as early as Heat 11 when they led 46-20.
Co-boss Laurence Rogers said: “The boys were on it, there was no stopping them and we got nine 5-1s in total.
“Jon and Marc came in and were really part of the team, and the partnership between Marc and Dan Greenwood was amazing – you’d have thought they’d ridden together for years.
“Martin was the star of the show from our point of view, he’s had a rough time but now his engines are running well and we’ve got seven riders who are all on it.â€
