WE would like to place on record our thanks to Councillor Michael Stokes for making time available to see us earlier this week.
Representatives from the campaign group met the Leader of Rugby Borough Council on Wednesday and were assured of his commitment towards our goal of the return of speedway and stock car racing to Coventry.
A number of issues were covered and will be further discussed at a campaign group meeting this week as we look to put in place a clear strategy to proceed.
Our thanks also to Mark Pawsey MP, who has confirmed the issue of Coventry Speedway was discussed at the latest meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Speedway.
Mr Pawsey said: "Whilst I am very concerned by recent developments, it is clear that the Bees have a huge amount of support both from the fans and from the wider Speedway community.
"The news that the Coventry name will continue through 'challenge fixtures' taking place this season will help keep the team alive.
"I hope that all parties involved can come back round the table to try and keep Speedway at Brandon, where generations of fans have enjoyed watching racing since the 1920s."
FUND RAISING - HELP THE RIDERS
Weʼre raising £10,000 to offer support to the Bees riders who have suffered financially as a result of the withdrawal of Coventry Speedway from the SGB Premiership.
