JASON Garrity put in a stunning individual display but could not prevent depleted Coventry from slipping to a 52-41 defeat at Leicester on Saturday.
The Buildbase Bees headed to Beaumont Park without No.1 Krzysztof Kasprzak and were unable to recover from a slow start in their bid to add to their Elite League points tally.
British ace Garrity was in scintillating form, suffering just one defeat in his five rides and claiming a tactical ride triumph to spark hopes of a comeback in heat eight.
But the visitors ran 12 last places and were unable to snatch a consolation point despite Garrity and battling skipper Chris Harris claiming a 5-1 in the final race.
Garrity was delighted with his own remarkable showing – but he admitted he was disappointed the Bees still left empty handed.
“To score paid 17 out of a possible 18 is an awesome night for me, and I was really happy with my performance,†said Garrity.
“It was a shame we couldn’t get anything out of the meeting, but it was always going to be tough going there without Kasprzak.
“We had a good win last night at home and we wanted to do the same away. Everyone tried their best but it just wasn’t our night I suppose.â€
Harris recovered from mechanical gremlins in his opening ride to go from third to first in heat 13 before ending his night on a high in the final race.
Popular Polish youngster Kacper Woryna also put in a useful display at reserve and partnered Garrity to an 8-1 when he went for double points.
However, Danny King and James Sarjeant both struggled and suffered tapes exclusions, whilst Josh Bates and guesting No.1 Ashley Morris also endured nights to forget.
Coventry will now aim to bounce back and earn their second successive home win as they host Swindon at Brandon on Monday (7.30)
